My Outfit Monday: Warhol mania!
Today's dress is a remnant from my unhealthy and obsessive Edie Sedgwick phase. Andy Warhol's muse was a deeply troubled and doomed starlet, so emulating her life too closely isn't the most enlightened idea ever. But there's no doubt she embodied 1960s style in all its black-tight, big-earring, cat-eye glory. And I love it.
My dress, the most comfortable dress in the history of dresses because it's shaped like a bag, is from Forever 21. I referenced the Peter Pan collar down below with a pair of Peter Pan booties from Steve Madden. The accessories are from Macy's and Dillard's. I grabbed my go-to Warholian Barbie tote bag (Hot Topic) for the picture because it makes sense with the outfit.
I use this almost every day to carry my laptop and my lunch and my idea notebook and my Diet Coke. I love the image of everyone's favorite plastic icon dripping with hot pink paint that looks a little bloody. It's a political statement! It's a cultural commentary on our concepts of beauty! It harkens to the tormented doll inside us all!
Or, it's just cool. Whatever.
How's your outfit doing on this gorgeous Monday?
