Nine designers, nine T-shirts: A Tampa Bay Fashion Week challenge
Tampa Bay Fashion Week starts next week, and we're excited as usual. The events are bigger and better this year, despite how bad things are in the economy. We decided to celebrate this idea with a very special project. We got all the featured designers slated to appear in Friday's runway show to create a high-fashion look out of a basic men's Hanes undershirt (size XXXL for max material!). They all came to the Times Wednesday for a big photoshoot full of laughs and chocolate chip cookies.
Please take a few minutes and check out our gallery below, with gorgeous photos by Chris Zuppa. You can see this spread in your Floridian section of the St. Petersburg Times Sunday, and in tbt* next Friday. Check here for all the information on Tampa Bay Fashion Week parties, and to buy tickets for the runway show at Innisbrook Golf and Spa Resort in Palm Harbor. The Deal Divas will be there, auctioning off the very garments you'll see in this gallery for charity.
Click the photo of designer Kim Hendrix (she MADE THAT out of an UNDERSHIRT!) below to enter the gallery! And be sure to support these local designers when you can. They're a talented bunch.
