One night only: would you rent a dress?
'Tis the season, folks. Already I've got three wedding invitations on my fridge and whispers of others on the way. Love is in the air, and with it comes a need for DRESSES.
The last wedding I attended, I was a bridesmaid. So all I needed to worry about was the shoes. Now, with engagement parties and bridal showers and receptions filling my calendar, my closet seems utterly unprepared. The events are close to each other, and many of the same people are invited, so I don't want to do too much outfit-repeating.
The idea isn't new, but now we're hearing of a new dress-rental operation right out of Tampa. It's called Lending Luxury, and it offers a night in a pricey designer dress for a fraction of the price. They even take care of the dry cleaning.
For $50, I could wear this amazing $368 French Connection shift dress. I love the texture.
For a more casual event, maybe a daytime bridal shower, I could try this Badgley Mischka dress, also retailing for close to $400 and available to rent for $50.
For something really fancy, I love this emerald gown. A jaw-dropping $548, it's $70 to rent. Truth is, I could find a beautiful dress -- albeit, not luxury -- for $70 or less somewhere else. But it's good to have the option for something really special.
(Side note: Gotta give props to Pops on this one. Along a busy stretch of Dale Mabry Highway the other day, Dad leaned over in his front seat and managed to snap a photo of this eye-catching billboard -- and not because of the chicks! He texted me: "Deal diva idea!" What a guy.)
