Online hope for a Black Friday grump
I hate Black Friday. This surprises a lot of men who think it's the Super Bowl of shopping. As if enjoying a game required forfeiting a night's sleep and battling mobs for a cheap DVD player.
But this year, it's looking like I can have my pie and eat it, too.
A growing number of retailers are posting Black Friday pricing online on Thanksgiving Day, allowing deal hunters like me to shop from their couches while the turkey is roasting.
This means I don't have to miss out on JCPenney's fabulous "4 a.m. doorbuster" women's boot sale -- all styles are $29.99 or under -- because I want to sleep off my stuffing hangover. I can order online and ship for free to the store or my house. JCPenney kicks off Black Friday online Thursday at 12:01 a.m. central time. The online sale runs until Black Friday.
The New York Times writes that Kohls, Best Buy, Walmart and Macy's are among the stores making almost every Black Friday special available online starting on Thursday. My laptop will be ready. How about yours?
