Pantone's 2013 color of the year: Emerald!
The "global authority on color" has spoken: Pantone's 2013 color of the year is emerald.
"Green is the most abundant hue in nature – the human eye sees more green than any other color in the spectrum,” said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute, in a news release. "As it has throughout history, multifaceted Emerald continues to sparkle and fascinate."
Count this Deal Diva thrilled.
Emerald is straight-up glamorous, pumping up ordinary looks. It transcends seasons, looking appropriate on summer bikinis, spring sundresses and holiday frocks.
Also, do you hear the sound of redheads rejoicing?
They should be. Emerald is a rich jewel tone that brightens fair skin.
I say this with confidence as the daughter of a redhead, sister of two and friend of one. Also, paleness.
Here's the thing: Fair-skinned girls try to own it, but emerald embraces everyone.
Consider the celevidence.

Sephora is among companies pleased with the decision. Senior VP of merchandising Margarita Arriagada said she thinks it will be successful as an eye shadow, liner, mascara and nail polish, according to the Associated Press.
"It's a passionate color, and it gives our client a lot of wearability," she told AP.
Pantone's choices for colors of years past include tangerine tango, honeysuckle, turquoise and sand dollar (the latter choice was the only that made me think, "Really? That's your big shade?").
Those hues were good to us, but it's time to shop on.
Let's take a look at some emerald merch.

Kameel Stanley has never encountered a thrift store she didn’t like. Her mother taught her that the true value of clothes isn’t how much they cost, but how many outfits one can create from them. Having grown up in Michigan, she was delighted to learn upon moving to Florida that she almost never needed to wear socks or boots again. There’s a lot of turnover in her closet, and she’s obsessed with dresses, necklaces and wedge heels. She can be reached at (727) 893-8643 or
