Part 2: Designer jean dreams come true

So here's the deal, Letitia.

I, too, once sat on the philosophically-opposed-to-expensive-jeans bandwagon. Two-hundred Washingtons for one pair of jeans?! No way, I thought.

But peer pressure is an awful (or beautiful) thing. One by one, my girlfriends began strutting their stuff in jeans that made them look slim all over. They guilted me into joining their gang o' cool. So one day last year, I went to Anthropologie and waded into unknown territory.

Like most jeans shopping trips for me, this one was a bit painful. The sizes made no sense. The super-looong legs seemed ridiculous (I'm 5'8'', so hemming is also a foreign concept). And the sales girls were telling me to buy a size that felt really snug because these jeans are prone to have butt sag. Oy.

Turns out, they knew what they were talking about. Yes, I had to do half-breaths for a wear or two while my new jeans molded to my behind. And yes, there was the annoyance of shelling out more cash to get them hemmed (and getting schooled on a proper jean hem).

But. I LOVE my jeans. I sprang for a pair of AG's (Adriano Goldschmied) that cost about $150. The hemming set me back another $20 or so. I haven't wanted to wear any of my other jeans since I got these.

And here's the best part: My husband likes them (or my booty in them) so much that he has ENCOURAGED me to buy more. And that, my dear, is a miracle.
