Paying it forward with cheap home remedies
They say good (and bad) things always come in threes. A broken nail. A chipped tooth. Spilled coffee on white pants. Yes, that was my life one day last week. But it seems my luck has turned, because over the last few days I've received some good remedies to everyday conundrums. Me being the good-karma-seeking Diva that I am ... I've decided to share.
1. Baby shampoo cleans makeup brushes: Yes, it's true. I tried it. This was after going into the drug store and almost spending $20 on a big jug of "brush cleaner." The kind hearted salesgirl told me to buy a bottle of $2.99 baby shampoo instead. My brushes have never been cleaner.
2. Toothpaste cleans diamonds: Having a 16-month-old means getting carrots in places you'd never imagine, including the tiny crevices of your wedding ring. A friend suggested putting a little toothpaste on a brush and scrubbing. It got the carrot out of my carat.
3. Shampoo cleans eyelashes: Not the ones on your face - but the ones you buy. I enjoy wearing fake lashes from time to time. You should try it! Well, I was lamenting that after wearing a pair once I often toss them. $12 down the drain. A makeup artist friend told me just give them a little rinse with shampoo, let them dry and reuse.
