Payless shoes: Stores are the answer to shipping fees!
Confessions of an online shopping dinosaur:
I do lots of window shopping online, but I rarely buy anything. With clothing, it's because I like to try things on. Things become clear in real life that just aren't on the computer screen.
Online shoe shopping is different. I don't need to worry about fit. I'm addicted to scrolling through the pretty pictures, but the shipping fees are my big turn-off. What's the point of buying $15 shoes online, then paying $10 for shipping?
Payless shoes stores have the answer. Shop online, and ship to a store for free! (If you choose standard shipping, it'll come faster, but for a flat rate of $5.95.)
This is BRILLIANT. Payless shoes stores are everywhere. There's two within 2 miles of my house.
Better still, Payless shoes stores are kinda hit-or-miss in person. I see all these cute styles online, and there's maybe a 50-50 chance that they'll have my size in stock, especially on the sale items.
Problem solved! I haven't tried out the ship-to-store option yet, so I'd love feedback from anyone who has. And does anyone have tips on avoiding shipping fees when you shop online?

Katie Sanders foolishly spurned pretty dresses and shoes as a child, tossing new clothes over her shoulder at birthday parties with a totally rude "no, thank you." Her drab days of monocolor outfits are over now, and she certainly knows better than to turn down free stuff. Her wardrobe mixes classic with quirk. Think blazers with statement necklaces, and lots of patterned ballet flats. She can be reached at 850) 224-7263 or
Kameel Stanley has never encountered a thrift store she didn’t like. Her mother taught her that the true value of clothes isn’t how much they cost, but how many outfits one can create from them. Having grown up in Michigan, she was delighted to learn upon moving to Florida that she almost never needed to wear socks or boots again. There’s a lot of turnover in her closet, and she’s obsessed with dresses, necklaces and wedge heels. She can be reached at (727) 893-8643 or

She lives for 80 percent off shoes at DSW, floral sundresses and bohemian chic tops. She confesses to being a bit of a snob when it comes to handbags and jewelry.
