A pedicure for your pits, kinda ...

A few days ago I started telling everyone within earshot that I was going to get a new beauty treatment known as the "piticure." I tend to do this when I'm nervous about something. Sort of my way of talking out the fears.

I even told my husband, who was uncharacteristically intrigued. And by intrigued, I mean he actually paid attention to what I was saying after hearing the words "beauty treatment."

Needless to say we were all excited. So last night after work, I happily skipped over to Sharmaine's Day Spa at Clearwater Beach. Sharmaine's was decked out for the event with lit tea candles and beautiful flower arrangements. And of course the sponsor of the event, Dove Deodorant, was prominently displayed.

IMG_2017 "The idea is to get women to treat their underarms the same way they do their face and skin," said Kristin Fields, with Edelman's public relations, who represents Dove Deodorant.

A masseuse greeted me in a quiet relaxing spa room where I slipped into a wrap and braced for whatever a piticure was.

Five minutes later ...

Let's just say this was no groundbreaking procedure.

The piticure, boasted as a "pedicure for the arm pits," was a simple 3-step process.

1. Scrub underarms with an exfoliating face scrub.

2.  Slathering on some Dove cream oil lotion.

3, Apply Dove visibly smooth deodorant.

Yes, my arm pits felt softer afterward. But I wouldn't say they're ready for any closeups, if you know what I mean.

Still, I must say the experience was pleasant and today my pits are still a bit supple. If nothing else it's an easy at-home pampering technique to add to your beauty regimen. And it's affordable!

The supplies you need for the piticure cost a little more than $15.

The next time I go sleeveless, I'll probably incorporate the piticure. Wanna see how to do it? Peep this vid.
