Pretty dresses I would wear if I were to be invited to a fancy dinner party

I do not live the kind of life one lives in which one is invited to fancy holiday cocktail parties and posh evening soirees. Last year for Nbandpic.jpgew Year's Eve, my band played a show at Skipper's Smokehouse (right) and I rushed back to a friend's party in uptown St. Petersburg just in time for the countdown. Don't get me wrong, it was a super fun night. But I do sometimes wish I had an occasion to wear pretty, sparkly dresses and drop-dead gorgeous shoes. Maybe get my hair done. Bust out the shimmery eye makeup.

So here are a bunch of dresses I probably will not be wearing this holiday season, but nevertheless, it's fun to fantasize. You ready?

Metallic pleated one shoulder dress ($98.00) from Express. I can only imagine the shoes and accessories I would buy to punch this up.

Annaliese Sweetheart Strapless Dress ($62.99) from Ruche. Out of stock, the website says, but a girl can dream.

Open shoulder dress ($38.99 clearance!!) from Victoria's Secret. I would totally stand like that all night, too.

Hudson Crinkle Chiffon Strapless Dress ($398) from Betsey Johnson. Maybe one day.

Antique Rose One Shouldered Maxi Dress in Blush ($83.99) from Ruche, again. I imagine myself prancing through a candlelit garden after midnight in this.

Anyone have any special NYE plans through which I can live vicariously in my imaginary evening wear?
