Reader Mailbag: Thrift store victory!
We love a good success story!
Today's letter comes from reader Janice Taylor, who had shopping luck after reading our post about Sunshine Thrift in St. Petersburg. We'll let her do the talking:
Hello Divas,
I am not a thrift or consignment store shopper, envisioning sifting through piles of merchandise I would never consider wearing. However, when I read your recent post about this store and realized it was close to where I live, I stopped in.
I IMMEDIATELY spotted this just above-the-knee Willi Smith skirt with coordinating scarf belt — and it fit! Total cost: $4.77, including tax. It was not on sale.
I consider it a year round Florida garment; sandals and tank in warm weather, tights and long sleeves in cold. Sadly, it was the only skirt I found in the thirty minutes I spent looking at every skirt I could find. The rest were either very short, very long, very small, very big, or very something else I didn’t like. I’ll stop in again, though, now that I know where it is.
AWESOME, Janice. It's super cute. Thanks for reading!
Have the Deal Divas led you to a good deal? Let us know and we'll post it!

Kameel Stanley has never encountered a thrift store she didn’t like. Her mother taught her that the true value of clothes isn’t how much they cost, but how many outfits one can create from them. Having grown up in Michigan, she was delighted to learn upon moving to Florida that she almost never needed to wear socks or boots again. There’s a lot of turnover in her closet, and she’s obsessed with dresses, necklaces and wedge heels. She can be reached at (727) 893-8643 or
