For real, $1 makeup
What's not real are the e-mail rumors about e.l.f. (eyes lips face) being bought out by Nordstrom's and slashing prices to dump inventory. One buck for lip gloss, blush, eye shadow and mascara is their everyday M.O.
Cheap makeup normally gives me the willies. I love the luxurious feel of my MAC pressed powder. Covergirl's cakey compact just doesn't compare. But Mac dust will set me back $21 -- an entire outfit at Bitten. After investing in basics like concealer and powder, I haven't been able to afford a new blush or eyeshadow in a year.
So I got a little giddy with my online e.l.f. shopping cart. A diva-in-a-tree told me to enter "carolina" as a coupon code, and 50 percent came off my bill! In the end, a blusher, two lip glosses, eye color, red nail polish, two mascaras, and SPF 15 Shielding Hydro-Tint (no idea what that is, but it sounded cool) added up to $10.95, half of which was shipping.
When my package ships -- in 14 to 18 days, says a customer service rep -- I'll find out if I wasted my money, or struck makeover gold. Stay tuned for a product review. This Diva will pucker and tell.
