Resolution 2011: Fabulously fashionable
It's a new year, and I get to be a new person, right? So move over, little black dresses. It's time to make room in my closet for some stylish new year's resolutions.
Risk more, fear less
Too often, I play it safe with my wardrobe. I could experiment with pairing browns and blacks, but I'll match grays before I walk out the door in something that could raise eyebrows. This year, I resolve to try one experimental outfit each month. What's the worst that could happen?!?
A classic girl to the core, I typically wait to see if a trend has staying power before I invest in it. (Exhibit A: The lack of shoe booties in my closet.) But with so many cute yet cheap options available at stores like Forever XII, Zara, Payless, it's not like I have to bet the farm to play with a new look. So in 2011, I'm going trendy ... at least once.
For years, I've turned up my nose at thrift stores. But in the last four months, thanks to Deal Diva Kim, thrifting has yielded my favorite pair of 7 for All Mankind Jeans ($9), a vintage fur-trimmed coat ($22) and a slinky black evening gown ($10). Three cheers for a thrifty start to 2011.
