Self-serve yogurt, fill 'er up!
If your December was anything like mine, you were about ready to take a break from junk food at the start of 2011. All those Christmas cookies, champagne and that ill-advised serving of egg nog left me pining for a wheat grass shot at the very least.
Still, girl can't ignore her sweet tooth. Which is why I'm pleased to announce that for the whole month of January, the annoyingly spelled You Say When Yogurt Shoppe is offering all the fro-yo you can fit into one of their paper cups for $5. So yeah, it's still dessert, but at least it's fat free, a source of calcium and apparently brimming with the mysterious live, natural cultures that tickle our digestive system into a tranquil state of bliss (or something...)
I wondered, though, is it really a good deal? If I filled a cup to my sugar-hankering's content, would it get close enough to $5 to be worth it?
As it turns out, yes.
I managed to fit a swirl each of Reese's Peanut Butter, Hershey's Kiss and cake batter flavors into my cup, plus chocolate chips, rainbow sprinkles, almonds and Hershey's chocolate for $5.80 (see my masterpiece, left)
At 50 cents an once, that means I scored 1.6 oz free, right? I'll take it!
Still, I should point out that other times I've visited the self-serve shoppe, the damage has been closer to $3 or $4, and I was still satisfied. I should also note that a drive across the street to Publix would have yielded me a whole carton of the stuff for about the same price. BUT STILL. Once in awhile, it's nice to have a treat, ya know? And if you're gonna fill 'er up, you might as well sneak in a deal.
