Every once in a while, I get to do things for my job that actually make my boyfriend jealous.
Like this past weekend. I got to tour the USS Independence, the futuristic-looking navy warship that stopped in St. Petersburg for Labor Day.
Cool, right? I thought so too, until I read the last few paragraphs of the instructions officials sent to media a few days before the ship docked.
"The tour includes steep stairs and some non-air-conditioned spaces. Sturdy, closed-toed shoes are recommended, as are pants or shorts for ease of movement. High heels, sandals, flip-flops or shower shoes will not be allowed on the tour."
At first I didn't think much of those few lines, until I realized with absolute clarity that I HAVE NO SENSIBLE, STURDY SHOES IN MY CLOSET.
What to do? Go shopping, of course.
Luckily, I got out of work a little earlier that day. My plan was to hit up T.J. Maxx, Target, and maybe the mall if all else failed. But it was raining that day, and on my way up Fourth Street, I made a detour to one of my favorite shops, Revolve Clothing Exchange, which is near my house.
I wasn't too hopeful at first, but then I saw them.
Lime green. Closed-toe. Sturdy sole. Kinda weird looking. Completely unlike anything else in my closet. At just $12, they were perfect (and pretty comfortable, too). What do you guys think?
