Shop your closet

What's the hottest, new shopping destination that no one seems able to get enough of?

Your closet.

Fashion mavens have coined a phrase for the wallet-conscious in these trying times, "Shop your closet."

"The expression refers to the practice of diving deep into your closet, storage space, or perhaps parents’ basement to uncover your own fabulous clothing from seasons past -- so long past, in fact, that they somehow feel new," reads the formal definition from Vogue's website,

Some women are uber serious about closet raiding, hiring fashion consultants to help them breath new life into old looks. That's too rich for my blood, but I'm totally digging the "shop your closet" concept.

Over the holidays, I cleaned out my sweater chest, intending to consign and give stuff away. But I found old fav's worthy of new life. Rooting through a jewelry box, I re-discovered a funky necklace-and-earrings set that my husband gave me for Christmas three years ago. Paired with a sequined looks-like mohair sweater, vintage Forever 21, I had a "new" New Year's Eve look without spending a dime.

Here's a resolution to kick off 2009: Dig out five "finds" from the back of your closet. And tell us what treasures you uncover!

Are you game?
Count me in
No way
