Should middle-aged women wear long hair?

rapunzel.JPGShould women "of a certain age" have long hair? The image of a woman with graying tresses winding down her back tends to get associated with thatched roof cottages and eye of newt and cauldrons. But it's not fair, right?

Writer Dominique Browning wrote a great piece for the New York Times defending long hair at 55.

"Long hair is not the appropriate choice of grown-ups," she writes. "It says rebellion. Hillary Rodham Clinton softens her do, and sets off a bizarre Howl of Angry Inches, as if she had betrayed some social compact. Well, my long hair is indeed a declaration of independence."

I support long hair on anyone. Life's too short to worry what everyone thinks all the time. But I will say that long hair looks best when it has a well-maintained style. This goes for young and old. A few strategic layers and regular trims can totally transform a face, no matter the age.

What do you think?
