Smitten with Bitten
With this being the summer of Sex and the City, there's much ado over Sarah Jessica Parker's big screen wardrobe. Love or hate that humungo flower dress in the movie, there's no better time to check out Bitten, the new clothing line designed by the trend-setting star and sold at Steve & Barry's at the University Mall.
Unlike her character on Sex and the City, Parker is neither a label nor a price snob. Her mantra for Bitten: "Fashion is not a luxury, it's a right." And she delivers. Steve & Barry's has received much publicity for managing to sell just about everything in its stores for $8.98.
Here's a preview of what you'll find at Bitten for a whopping $9: Summer-perfect seersucker trousers. An itty bitty polk-a-dot bikini top. Red wedge peep-toe sandals. Sexy bootcut jeans. Your pick of three little black dresses -- strapless with a bow, V-neck tank-style, or three-quarter inch sleeve. And that's without checking out the graphic tee's, or the $3.15 jewelry line.
Bitten is where the spirit of Sex and the City fashion meets the model of Old Navy. The look is fresh, but there are plenty of staples that could be worn almost anywhere. Be warned: I found the sizes a bit finicky, with the cuts differing from one garment to the next. But at $8.98 an item, I'm willing to budget in time to try things on.

Kameel Stanley has never encountered a thrift store she didn’t like. Her mother taught her that the true value of clothes isn’t how much they cost, but how many outfits one can create from them. There’s a lot of turnover in her closet, and she’s obsessed with dresses, necklaces and wedge heels. She can be reached at (727) 893-8643 or
