Snuggie for Dogs: "Too cute for words" or fashion faux PAW?
Some Divas thumb through trashy tabloids. My guilty-pleasure periodical? SkyMall -- you know, that airplane catalog of oddities like the Spy Pen and the World's Largest Crossword Puzzle. My favorite section is Pet Products: page after page of animal accoutrements, such as the Canine Genealogy Kit; the Pet Ramp, to help your arthritic pup climb into bed with you; and a rolling pet carrier for dogs on the go.
But in the battle to create the most embarrassing pet product on earth, no one -- not even SkyMall -- can trump the Snuggie for Dogs. It's exactly what it sounds like: a fleecy, blankety tunic for your pooch can throw on during cold walks or just lounging on the couch, catching up on Lassie reruns. The canine Snuggie comes in pink or blue,
for $14.95. A video on the Web site says it's "just too cute for words.
Now, my dog Jackie wears a bandanna around her neck. And I know some people do the whole pet Halloween costume thing. But another expense for a creature who's already freeloading off of me? I'd rather keep my $14.95 and use it to hit the Ann Taylor clearance rack, thank you very much.
Divas, does this make me an insensitive pet parent? Am I the only one not outfitting my four-legged friend in loungewear? What's the most embarrassing get-up you've ever made your pet wear?

Think blazers with statement necklaces, and lots of patterned ballet flats. She can be reached at 850) 224-7263 or
Kameel Stanley has never encountered a thrift store she didn’t like. Her mother taught her that the true value of clothes isn’t how much they cost, but how many outfits one can create from them. Having grown up in Michigan, she was delighted to learn upon moving to Florida that she almost never needed to wear socks or boots again. There’s a lot of turnover in her closet, and she’s obsessed with dresses, necklaces and wedge heels. She can be reached at (727) 893-8643 or
A disciple of the little black dress classics school, Letitia Stein stretches her budget by looking for styles with staying power. She lives for 80 percent off shoes at DSW, floral sundresses and bohemian chic tops. She confesses to being a bit of a snob when it comes to handbags and jewelry.
