Spring splurge?
Spring is on the horizon. I can smell it, feel it, and taste the mango margaritas that accompany it. And after this winter I say we all deserve a good time! We really had to hunker down this year. And I'm not just talking for warmth.
The cold hard truth is that for most this was a winter of empty pockets. Everyone was trying to save their coins. And rightly so, with an economy this dismal and skyrocketing unemployment rates anyone with half a brain would be doing the same.
But it comes a time in a fashionista's life when she must splurge. I'm not talking skipping the mortgage payment type splurge. I'm talking socking away a few dollars here and there to really buy yourself something that might cause buyer's remorse if it wasn't so daggone hot! Of course it can't be anything very practical. For it to be a true splurge it must really get at the core of our excess.
In that breath, I present to you Gucci's Marola Jelly. It comes in coral and black and retails for $150 at Saks.
Now I'm not saying this will be my splurge. Buuuuut, it's kind of like one of those things that is the opposite of practical and would make all your sundresses a little more high-fashion this year.
I must admit I like the non-traditional Jelly shape, and the fact that it has the signature gold Gucci G's on the front. I mean, if you're going to buy Gucci, you might as well make sure folks know it!
So what, if anything, are you planning to splurge on this year?

Think blazers with statement necklaces, and lots of patterned ballet flats. She can be reached at 850) 224-7263 or
Kameel Stanley has never encountered a thrift store she didn’t like. Her mother taught her that the true value of clothes isn’t how much they cost, but how many outfits one can create from them. Having grown up in Michigan, she was delighted to learn upon moving to Florida that she almost never needed to wear socks or boots again. There’s a lot of turnover in her closet, and she’s obsessed with dresses, necklaces and wedge heels. She can be reached at (727) 893-8643 or
A disciple of the little black dress classics school, Letitia Stein stretches her budget by looking for styles with staying power. She lives for 80 percent off shoes at DSW, floral sundresses and bohemian chic tops. She confesses to being a bit of a snob when it comes to handbags and jewelry.
