Summer bag: White hot or just plain dirty?
I've been dreaming of a white summer purse, but afraid to take the plunge. I'm a messy girl who has to be on good behavior when wearing white pants, a white blouse or even a pale T-shirt -- there are just too many ways for me to spill or stain during the day.
So was it insane to think I could keep clean a white purse, which I'd have on me 24-7, day after day? I got my answer on Day 2 of white purse ownership:
I went for a short walk with my cute, white, weave hobo by The Sak. I was wearing blue jeans. Twenty minutes later, I noticed a big blue splotch on the bag where the denim had rubbed off on the leather. Just like that, all messed up.
Luckily, I only paid $14 for the bag, a Dillard's clearance center score. And I was able to remove most of the blue stain with some leather cleaner that I happened to have at home. But I've learned my lesson: A white bag is a disaster-in-waiting. If one must indulge, do so on the cheap.
