Take your mom: YWCA Purses and Passion
Need a last-minute Mother's Day gift idea that's more special than taking Mom out for brunch? Here's one: YWCA's Purses and Passion luncheon. It's Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Renaissance Vinoy Resort, 501 Fifth Ave. NE, St. Petersburg.
The fourth annual event benefits YWCA of Tampa Bay. It includes a lunch of salad, chicken or vegetarian dish and dessert.
Here's the "purses" part: There will be a silent auction with fab handbags including Coach, Chanel, Christian Dior and a boatload donated by HSN. Pony up the cash to win Mom a cute purse, and you'll definitely be the favorite child. Other auction items include beauty products, spa and restaurant gift certificates and gift baskets.
Here's the "passion" part: Make Mommy Dearest cry as she listens to a speech from a recent graduate of the Y's Adolescent Pregnancy and Parenting Services program. CEO Joyce Pritchett and the board of directors will also speak.
