Tampa: Destination on the vintage clothing map!?!
It's always fun to see yourself through someone else's eyes. Most of us who have lived in Tampa Bay for a while take for granted vintage clothing stores like La France in Ybor City and Sherry's YesterDaze in Seminole Heights.
Turns out, Tampa is something of a vintage clothing paradise.
The New York Times recently discovered the vintage clothing scene in Tampa, which apparently has become quite the tourist draw. Turns out, we benefit from a unique convergence of retirees with closets to clean out and young, hip things eager to acquire their cast-off treasures.
Little did I know. When I was getting married, I spent hours in La France and Sherry's YesterDaze looking for a vintage gown before deciding to buy something new. (White doesn't age gracefully, and nor have the prim-and-proper sleeves and high necklines of our mothers' generation.) Still, I thought every bride in every town had such rich options.
