To the thrifters go the spoils
For me, there are few pleasures in life that can compete with a successful day of thrifting. A trip to the Sunshine Thrift Store on S Dale Mabry Highway the other day was no exception.
I like Sunshine Thrift because of its massive selection. But I keep my visits sporadic because that wonderful stockpile can also be overwhelming. Carve out a good chunk of browsing time if you want to check it out for yourself.
On my recent trip, I wasn't looking for anything specific, but I stumbled upon a couple adorable purses and two skirts. A couple friends with me found: a coffee mug with her alma mater's logo for a few quarters, a huge, sturdy mirror for her new house for $16 and an ornate milk glass goblet for a buck.
Feast your eyes on the purses. I love the size of both -- not too big, not to small -- and the details. You'd be unlikely to run into anyone with a dupicate. Each were $6 and some change. Love that!
Next came the skirts. The first one, a little off-white pencil skirt for $2.95, fit me like a glove. Like it was meant to be! I can't wait to pair it with a striped, nautical-style top or dark solid-color tee.
The second find is going to take some surgery, as usual. I fell in love with the cool geometric pattern and soft pleats. I'm going to have to shorten the hemline, though. Mid-calf isn't exactly a good look for me (or maybe anyone). See for yourself...
Still, at $2.75, I didn't hesitate! Time to employ my grandma's alteration services.
