A throwback
Here at Deal Diva Nicole headquaters, also known as the messy pod closest the rusted-cootie water fountain, I get a slew of stuff from readers and businesses that want to get their shine-on via our blog.
Often, I'm not quite sure what to make of the stuff. I mean, what does one write about a seamstress that specializes in making matching fur coats for humans and their pets?
But recently I was pleasently surprised when a Newport News catalog was tossed to me. Remember them?
For a while a few years ago, anytime you purchased something from Victoria Secret you'd mysteriously recieve a Newport News catalog in the mail. I used to call it "Nee-Nee" -- Victoria Secret's cheap little sister, but in a good way.
In these economically depressed times it seems Newport News is going stronger than ever and ramping up its style factor a bit to boot.
Sure it's still got its share of leopard print ankle boots and floor-length denim skirts, but the majority of the stuff in the book is quite cute.
A quick flip through revealed some truly stylish sweater dresses sure to come in handy this Fall and some seriously cool jackets.
But don't take my word for it, go to www.newport-news.com and check it out for yourself. Or better yet, renew that catalog subscrition -- it's free!
"Go Nee-Nee, go Nee-Nee!!"

Katie Sanders foolishly spurned pretty dresses and shoes as a child, tossing new clothes over her shoulder at birthday parties with a totally rude "no, thank you." Think blazers with statement necklaces, and lots of patterned ballet flats. She can be reached at 850) 224-7263 or
Kameel Stanley has never encountered a thrift store she didn’t like. Her mother taught her that the true value of clothes isn’t how much they cost, but how many outfits one can create from them. Having grown up in Michigan, she was delighted to learn upon moving to Florida that she almost never needed to wear socks or boots again. There’s a lot of turnover in her closet, and she’s obsessed with dresses, necklaces and wedge heels. She can be reached at (727) 893-8643 or
A disciple of the little black dress classics school, Letitia Stein stretches her budget by looking for styles with staying power. She lives for 80 percent off shoes at DSW, floral sundresses and bohemian chic tops. She confesses to being a bit of a snob when it comes to handbags and jewelry.
