Tips for maximizing Clinique bonus time

5

October

clinique.jpegPhew!!! I've been getting anxious for Clinique bonus time. My favorite lip gloss tube hit empty a few weeks ago and nothing else will do.

But this week brought the start of Clinique bonus time at Macy's. Hooray! (Apparently, I just missed gift time at Dillard's. How did that happen?)

My problem? The lip gloss that I like is $17.50, and the minimum price for the gift is $21.50. And there really isn't anything else that I want to purchase. What's a Deal Diva to do?

Clinique must set these prices intentionally, so we'll purchase two items to get the gift. But if you are cheap like me, or only like one Clinique item, here are a few ideas:

1) Go in on the Clinique gift with someone else. My mother and I are forever swapping from the free gifts the things that she likes (cleansers, moisturizers) for the things I'll use (lip color, mascara, the bag itself). If we teamed up on a single purchase, we'd hit the minimum no problem. Hear that, Mom? Call me before you go buy anything!

2) Find something cheap: Sure it's a little disgraceful, but I think Clinique sells a compact makeup sponge for $2. You can always use an extra, right?!?

3) Compromise in the middle: Would it really be so horrible to buy two $14 lip glosses, if you will use or gift them?

Of course, check out the freebies before you buy anything. It's not a "gift" if you won't use it. That's called junk.

What tips do you have to make the most of Clinique bonus time?
