Try it, we dare you: Bealls, Stein Mart
I once gallivanted recklessly through a Bealls Outlet with my pal, Sara. We were young, stupid and jazzed on Cow Tales.
Bealls was a hilarious place to unleash energy - fullo weird stuff: elastic pants; rain bonnets; suspenders; hand-held Keno. On the floor near the church lady hats, we saw what looked like blood. Somehow, we found this slapstick cheesers riotous pee pants funny.
Since then, Bealls has shaped up quite a bit. It has new life and cooler stock. I pop into the Oldsmar or Gateway stores occasionally. They're bright, clean and full of great finds. Before one impromptu beach trip, I found a Roxy tank top and Unionbay shorts for under $30.
Give it a try. Here are some coupons to use this weekend.
Since you're trying new-old stores, howzabout Stein Mart? Yes, it can be a little "ladies league fashion show," but there's some cool stuff, too. I like Stein Mart for last minute housewarming gifts. And if you abhor being subtle and understated, take a look at this:
This is my cousin Mandie, who clearly descends from my gaudy-yet-rocking bloodline. She scored this hat at Stein Mart for a hat-themed party I hosted. All night, we screamed "Stein Mart!" at her. Sure she couldn't hear or see a blessed thing, but she looked FAB-U-LOUS.
Here's a Stein Mart coupon. If you see blood on the floor at ANY store, call authorities.

Think blazers with statement necklaces, and lots of patterned ballet flats. She can be reached at 850) 224-7263 or
Kameel Stanley has never encountered a thrift store she didn’t like. Her mother taught her that the true value of clothes isn’t how much they cost, but how many outfits one can create from them. Having grown up in Michigan, she was delighted to learn upon moving to Florida that she almost never needed to wear socks or boots again. There’s a lot of turnover in her closet, and she’s obsessed with dresses, necklaces and wedge heels. She can be reached at (727) 893-8643 or
A disciple of the little black dress classics school, Letitia Stein stretches her budget by looking for styles with staying power. She lives for 80 percent off shoes at DSW, floral sundresses and bohemian chic tops. She confesses to being a bit of a snob when it comes to handbags and jewelry.
