UK Style by French Connection at Sears, of all places

uk_style.jpgI usually only go into Sears when I haven't found what I'm looking for anywhere else. I don't need a tool belt, after all, or a Maytag, or a family photo in the portrait studio. What are the odds that they will have my specific fashion necessity? It's always all, "SIGH, I guess I'll check SEARS, NOW, just for the HECK of it." And usually what happens is, I'll walk into Sears and what I'm looking for is right there. I don't know why I can't get this through my thick melon.

It happened recently. I was looking for something to wear to St. Patrick's Day festivities, and I have an aversion to holiday T-shirts. For one, I think they're annoyingly obvious. For two, I want something that I'm going to wear more than once. Turns out, though, green is not the color of the year. Sears, though? At the end of my rope, I walked in and saw an adorable handkerchief hem green tank top for $12.90. SOLD.

It was a part of the UK Style by French Connection line, and everything was so cute. WHO KNEW? French Connection is a pretty expensive designer brand. You may remember the pithy, double entendre shirts that were huge some ten years ago, the abbreviation for French Connection United Kingdom (FCUK) inserted into naughty catch phrases. I'll never forget the day a girl in my senior class wore one. When our elderly English teacher noticed, she almost died of pearl clutching right there in the middle of class.

Anyway, the line for Sears is pretty impressive. There was a big launch party for it in Hollywood this month, and all the celebs showed up wearing the goods. I think I might need this leopard dress on Nicky Hilton and Jamie King.

Moral of the story? Sears, you win.
