Let's face it. Gift cards are not creative. For the gift giver, they require little research and no effort beyond going to a store to pick them up.
For the gift getter, gift cards inspire no feelings of, wow, this person really knows me. On the other hand, that's not such a bad thing if the giver's idea of "knowing you" means puffy pink socks you'll never wear, trinkets you'd never display or sweaters that look like they came from grandma's closet.

And you get to complete your holiday shopping from the couch, without ever having to put down your hot cocoa or interrupt your annual viewing of the Griswold's Christmas Vacation.
