Vibrating mascara = scary freak show
Read the ad for Lancome's new $34 vibrating mascara, and you'll think it has so much potential.
"Experience a breakthrough sensation." "An exquisitely smooth formula." "Lashes appear ultimately extended, remarkably separated, and virtually multiplied in number."
Too bad it made me look like Tammy Faye (Bakker) Messner, God rest her crazy-eyelashed departed soul.
I wasn't sure what to expect as a very nice makeup lady at a local Lancome counter gave the mascara's 7,000 oscillations per minute a test run on my eyelashes. I could hardly feel the vibrations or my lashes supposedly being wrapped up to 360 degrees with the push of a button.
She raved about my new look. But when I saw myself in her handy-dandy mirror...yowzas. My eyelashes were definitely longer but had separated into odd-looking clumps.
Natural? Not so much. Desirable? Maybe if I dress up as Cruella De Vil for Halloween next year.
