Wear red for savings at Macy's
Here's one more reason to break out that red outfit and style it up!
Macy's is running a Wear Red Sale in support of the American Heart Association's Go Red for Women campaign. It aims to use the colors of love and the heart to promote awareness about heart disease, the No. 1 killer of women.
I have mixed feelings about the commercialization of women's health. It seems like a lot of retailers are more interested in their own profits than my well-being with the pink action for breast cancer awareness, another very worthy cause.
Still, I find myself rooting for the Go Red movement. About one in three women dies from cardiovascular disease, compared to about one in 30 from breast cancer, the Heart Association notes. I know a lot more about my breast cancer risks than I do about heart disease, which I can probably do more to prevent.
So I'm wearing my little red dress pin today as a first step to becoming better educated. And what's not to like about an excuse to go shopping?

Her drab days of monocolor outfits are over now, and she certainly knows better than to turn down free stuff. Her wardrobe mixes classic with quirk. Think blazers with statement necklaces, and lots of patterned ballet flats. She can be reached at 850) 224-7263 or
Kameel Stanley has never encountered a thrift store she didn’t like. Her mother taught her that the true value of clothes isn’t how much they cost, but how many outfits one can create from them. Having grown up in Michigan, she was delighted to learn upon moving to Florida that she almost never needed to wear socks or boots again. There’s a lot of turnover in her closet, and she’s obsessed with dresses, necklaces and wedge heels. She can be reached at (727) 893-8643 or
