White House Black Market touts new collection inspired by inaugural gowns
White House Black Market is celebrating President Barack Obama's second inauguration with a collection of dresses inspired by the much-hyped inaugural gown.
Some of them look a little familiar, playing off of the white, one-shoulder Jason Wu design worn by Michelle Obama in 2009.
The WHBM folks are calling their collection of nine dresses "From Our White House to Yours." (I wonder how long they waited to work in that play on words.) The black-and-white collection includes cocktail dresses and gowns, priced steeply from $250 to $300.
You can only buy them online, unless you live in D.C. (Hello, Capitol divas!)
Let's take a look.
One-shoulder cocktail dresses: I would wear any of these right now. On top of an adorable bodice, you're giving me pockets and a forgiving skirt? I, well, die.
Full-length: I'm not loving the very '90s Jennifer Aniston look of the first dress. But l would take the second and third options -- and also, an occasion that calls for wearing them -- any day.
Party dresses: These are both homeruns, don't you think? I love the dangerous-but-not-dangerous, see-through appeal of the first and the flirty rosette action on the second.
