Yet another cool nail polish trend: Magnetic polish
My, has nail polish technology made leaps and bounds this year! First we had OPI Shatter polish, which makes a cool, edgy crackled pattern in two easy steps. Then we had Sally Hansen nail polish strips, creating ease for the inept.
And now we're hearing good things about magnetic polish by nails inc., a product that uses the mysterious power of magnets to turn your nails into swirly, shimmery works of art.
Sold in Europe for the last couple of years, the polish is now available at Sephora, which provides a YouTube video demonstration on how the stuff works. Basically, after first creating a base coat, you slather on a second coat, and while it's still wet, you hover the cap's built-in magnet over the nail for a few seconds. This creates kind of an airbrushed-looking chevron pattern into the polish, which you can top coat to seal.
Right now, it only comes in three colors -- teal, purple and chrome -- and it's a pricey $16. But if you're looking for a festive look for the holidays, it's cheaper than a professional nail design at the salon. Plus, it looks really fun! Who doesn't love playing with magnets?
