Faking fall even in the Florida heat
In case you haven’t noticed, it’s hot outside. I ran an errand during lunch the other day and came back practically panting. Sandals and shorts seem to be the only respite.
We're still more than a week away from the official start of fall (Sept. 22, everyone!). Yet, I can’t stop thinking about my favorite season. Maybe it’s because coffee shops are hawking pumpkin-flavored drinks like crazy. Or maybe it’s the multiple sales ads in my inbox touting oxblood sweaters and knee high boots.
Whatever it is, it’s working. But because temps won’t plummet around here for weeks, I've been trying to figure out how to sneak a little fall style into my life without overheating.
I started with a pair of black biker-style ankle boots I picked up at DSW a few weeks ago (coupon!). It’s still too toasty to keep my toes in them all day long, but they feel just right when paired with a dress and bare legs for a night out.
Then, earlier this week, I got what I’m dubbing fall bangs. The blunt cut fringe screams autumn even when paired with a tank top. Deal Diva Katie shared a few tips at the beginning of this year for maintaining the look that I'll be taking cues from.
I’m dying to get my cowboy boots out, but I think those will have to wait a few more weeks (or more realistically, months).
Got any more ideas on how to fake fall without feeling like you’re on fire? Or is no one as obsessed with autumn as I am? Either way, check out the photo gallery up top for inspiration.
