Fashion Fantasy Alert: You too can look like Empire's Cookie Lyon
If you're not watching Fox's Empire, you are missing a fashion moment exploding into living rooms everywhere on Wednesday nights.
Cookie Lyon's closet is EVERYTHING and even the show runners know it. Tucked in to the weekly features of Empire's website is a blog called Cookie's Closet, which dissects an outfit from our favorite momager each episode and explains how you can get the look for less.
The style is fabulous and one that's often over looked in mainstream fashion. Cookie was a barely-educated drug dealer with an ear for music who got caught and sent away to prison for 17 years. When she emerged, her initial investment had become a multi-millionaire dollar enterprise. In the truest sense of the words, Cookie's style is nouveau riche. But more than that, it's an upcycling of the things she would wear if she didn't have the money at all -- street-level high fashion.
The rap video version of rich lady wear, Cookie's closet is the American dream for every cast member of Love & Hip Hop. And now Fox is dishing the details on each look, so that girls who see Cookie as the fashion icon she has rightfully become can add some of this fierceness into their every day lives.
Even the skirt suit isn't safe when Cookie's doing the styling. This Moschino denim number, complete with Mr. T chains, is the stuff of Empire fashion legend.
Here are the details from the Fox blog:
SHOP THIS LOOK: Gold and denim Moschino jacket (similar, $198.50) / Black Moschino skirt ($650) (look for less, $79.50) / Christian Louboutin Spiked Millacolu Sandals ($1,495) (look for less, $153) / Kenneth Jay Lane earrings ($271) (look for less, $59)
Stumbling across this holy grail of information has completed my life. Here, for my last will and testament, I express my wish to be buried in last night's patchwork Moschino suit.
This is the very definition of "casket fresh."
