Fashion Fears: A maxi for this mini

I wish, like the other Divas, I was about to tell you a redemptive story about me overcoming one of my biggest fashion fears.

Fact is, when it comes to maxi dresses, I'm just not there yet.

Look, I was as thrilled as the next girl when maxis made a comeback a few years ago. Who wouldn't? It's a nice change of pace of ever-higher hemlines and they really do look so comfy. But on me? I'm still insecure about the length -- or rather, about my lack of height, in a maxi.

I know if can be done, and I have similarly-sized girlfriends who can pull a maxi off without blinking an eye, but I just haven't yet been brave enough to step out in one.(I do have exactly two in my closet right now, but I pretty much just wear them around the house).

And yet, I'm still drawn to thems. Earlier this week at Target, (doesn't THAT sould familiar) I tried on a printed maxi dress and skirt. A friend was with me and swore I didn't look crazy. She even encouraged me to get the skirt, which I have to admit was ridiculously comfortable. I walked away from both.

So help me out friends. What do I need to do to get over this fear?

Signed,

Ready For A Maxi ... Maybe.
