Fashion headlines for your weekend

February

There's lots going on in the fashion world this weekend, so I thought I would turn them all into one mega post. Enjoy!

First, today is the American Heart Association's Go Red for Women day.

As the daughter of a woman who had a stroke at the age of 40, the day holds special meaning for me. Heart disease is the number one killer of women, according to the Heart Association, and despite increases in awareness over the past few years there are still many women who don't know the warning signs. Knowing what a heart attack or stroke looks like is vital in order to get fast and effective treatment.

Want to show your support? That's where the fashion angle comes in. Just wear red. Then, when someone comments on how gorgeous you look tonight in your red dress/red scarf/red socks (because it's bound to happen!), fill them in on the importance of heart disease awareness for women as a thank you. Get more information here.

On a lighter note, it's New York Fashion Week, which is when designers present their collections for next season (in this case, that means fall 2014) and fabulous parties are thrown for It girls, fashion journalists and models.

I can't help you with the party invites because sadly I have none, but with internet streaming and constant coverage, it's not hard to feel front row at the shows. Plus, you should get a good look at what zany new trends might trickle down to Forever 21 and H&M in the future. Here a couple good places to start:

You can also follow along with the fun on Instagram and Twitter using #nyfw.

And lastly, a reason to rejoice.

The Peter Pilotto for Target capsule launces this Sunday. A London brand designed by Peter Pilotto & Christopher De Vos, the label is known for its use of color, pattern and a mix of classic and modern design.

Now, as Deal Divas, we know to give it a couple of weeks before buying products from the designer labels at Target (HELLLO clearance). But, if there's an item you really want, like the gorgeous floral and striped skirt (in the photo gallery above) I'm coveting, then it may be best to grab it quickly, before all the other fashionistas out there get their hands on it.
