Grand Opening Alert: Online southwestern chic wholesaler Caite opens first store in Tampa today
Tampa Bay Fashion Week presenter Karyn Seo will fling open the doors on her first store today after a successful market test in September.
The Caite outlet, 4899 W Waters Ave. in Tampa, opens at 9 a.m. and closes at 7 p.m. today.
Caite, a brand she founded nine years ago after relocating from New York to Tampa, had mainly sold it's brand of bohemian comfort in bulk to retailers nationwide including Soft Surroundings catalog, National Geographic, ModCloth and Smithsonian, said Kimberly Hamilton, the company's sales manager. The shop deals mostly in tops and outerwear with designs favoring intricately embroidered styles on natural materials handmade in India.
While moving her headquarters, Seo found a property with a 1,000-square-foot retail space to finally dip her toe in the direct sales market.
Hamilton said Caite is most suitable for the special women in your life with ages ranging from 30 to 70. Though the revival of the southwestern styles has helped Caite see customers in their 20s and teens take shine to the products.
"Our Calliope printed tank top is really popular here in Florida," Hamilton said. "The store will be an outlet with prices in the $50 to $70 range."
Lucky ladies who make it to the grand opening can expect door prizes, wine, champagne, holiday sweets, cupcakes and sweepstakes for tickets to see the Next Generation Ballet's The Nutcracker at the Straz Center for the Performing Arts.
"There will be a DJ and really an all day party," Hamilton said. "We call it a sip and shop."
After the grand opening event, the store will be open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m.. to 5 p.m.
