Banana Republic goes mod with third Mad Men line
When we told you about Banana Republic's third Mad Men collection last fall, we didn't know much beyond the inspiration for it: Don Draper's hip wife Megan.
Great news, Team Megan. The line debuted online and in stores last week. Pieces of it delightfully embody the retro chic style that I've come to expect from Banana's collaboration with the show.
Here's what I love: The patterned dresses with 3/4-length sleeves (the Peggy Knit Shift and the mod shirtdress). This timeless striped dress with a sexy open back. The Peggy ballet heel (fine, if it says Peggy, I will probably want it). The jewelry and geometric print silk scarves.
Here's where I'm meh: The wide assortment of shell tops and crew-neck tees. These gingham crop pants.
Here's why I'm sad: The prices, while typical of most BR stuff, are still pretty high for a Deal Diva. The dresses I like are $130 and $140. Even the underwhelming basic tops are $50 to $70. What? How? Sad.
Maybe, though, I can make it work. Let's see. I've got a $25 BR gift card. I could wait for a 40 percent off everything sale. These factors bring the Peggy shift dress to $53 (without counting tax). It's a cute dress, but I'm not sure it's worth it.
What do you think?
Not thrilled with these looks? The store is offering 40 percent off of this other stuff today.
Friendly reminder, super fans -- Mad Men returns April 7!

Kameel Stanley has never encountered a thrift store she didn’t like. Her mother taught her that the true value of clothes isn’t how much they cost, but how many outfits one can create from them.
