My Outfit Monday: Colonel Mustard, in the library, with the LOFT pants
I found these pants on sale at LOFT, and I had to pause for a second before even touching them. They were MUSTARD, you guys. French's yellow stadium mustard. On the list of colors I typically find flattering, French's stadium mustard ranks moderate to low.
However, finding pants that both fit (I am the height of a Lorax), and are flattering, and are priced according to Deal Diva code is no easy order. And so I tried them on, and feeling unsure all the way to the register, I got them. They're the petite Marisa slim boot cut pants in LOFT bi-stretch. In, yes, "mustard olive."
I have to say, the color has grown on me. There is something very autumnal about them, especially when I pair them with other rich fall colors. Today, I couldn't put that much thought it into it. I'm a little under the weather with the cold snifflies the entire breathing population has this time of year, and I just wanted to be comfy. Peep the top of the outfit in the next slide. Our office manager Aimee took my photo immersed in the Tampa Bay Times charity book sale that's going on today, and though we didn't know it at the time, we were acting out a scene to Clue. Colonel Mustard, with the LOFT pants, in the library -- GUILTY OF UNNATURAL POSES.
I got my leopard blouse for one dollar, yes, ONE DOLLAR, at a thrift store that was going out of business near my house in Dunedin. I think it's straight out of the late 70s, as there is something very Veronica Corningstone about both the look at the feel. I topped the whole thing with a cozy, sniffly Grandpa cardigan from Zara and added a gaudy Betsey Johnson ring for a bit of jazz.
My favorite part of the whole thing might be my shoes, platform buckle sandals by BCBGeneration, called "Cayden Wedge," plucked off the clearance rack at Macy's. Check the next slide to see the shoes in their natural element, unstrangled by Col. Mustard.
May all your Mondays be rich in condiments!
