My Outfit Monday: Divas do Bright Nights
A few of us ventured out to Tampa Bay Fashion Week's Bright Nights summer party Friday night. The top-secret location turned out to be The Basement in St. Petersburg on Central Avenue, a gallery space and honest-to-goodness basement (in Florida? How?) on Central Avenue. It felt very HBO Girls-esque, warehousey and industrial. A bunch of folks from Tampa Bay's ever-growing fashion scene showed up, including models, publicists, designers Dolly Donshey, Kim Hendrix and Spathose, and MISRED Outfitters owner Sara Stonecipher. It was sweaty and dark, and we photoboothed, ate old-school rock candy and danced to Mariah Carey. It was a fun reminder of the action that awaits us in September for Fashion Week.
We pulled out our best brights for the event. I went with a neon orange pool cover up repurposed as a blouse, paired with a gray and neon green clearance rack skirt from Express. I topped it with my black Guess jacket that I picked up at our Macy's event, which I wear just about every day since buying it. I have problems. I also had my roots freshly bleached just in time for the occasion, unintentionally wearing yet another bright on my head. The necklace was a gift from a friend, purchased at one of the boutiques at the Disney Village shopping area. No joke.
Kameel's whole look came from Revolve Clothing Exchange. She bought the skirt long ago for $12 and only just now got around to wearing it (happens). "I call it the Barbie skirt," she said. "I've put it on so many times but taken it right back off because I'm always like, 'Too much.'" She paired with the green halter top picked up at the same store right before the party, because, why not? It was a mere $8.
Keyonna's red peplum dress was Focus Studio, scored at Ross for $15. She paired it with her own Macy's hosting splurge, the blue Marc Fisher heels (which you cannot see thanks to the magical square cropping power of Instagram), and a blue clutch from Little Brooklyn Vintage.
