My Outfit Monday: Dressing up for a graduation
I'm playing a little trick on you today, and I hope you don't mind.
As you read this, I am at home, as in home home, for the holidays. So what I am actually wearing are seven misplaced bows with abandoned strips of Scotch tape over leisure pants and a high school tee while wrapping last-minute presents. Here at Deal Divas, we call that NSFB (not safe for the blog).
That would be fun, but I thought it would be even more fun to take you all the way back in time to Dec. 14 in Gainesville, Fla., when I attended my brother's college graduation. Awww.
Yeah, enough about sibling pride already. Here's what I wore:Blazer: Oh, wow, have I annoyed my friends and all blood relatives by talking about how much I want the In Living Monochrome blazer from Modcloth in spite of its price tag. Oh, right, I annoyed you about it, too, when I wrote about how I wanted it less as I learned to let time pass. I'm not saying that post was all lies. For a while, that strategy worked. Months later, though, as the jacket kept stalking me, and I was told I shouldn't wear black blazers for TV appearances because of my hair, and I got some birthday money, I broke down and ordered the blazer, bringing shame to my loved ones and this blog. And I'm happy.
Dress: I brought in the blazer to tamp down the romantic, pointillistic hues of this flowy dress from TJ Maxx. It's a summer dress with a racerback cut, but you'd never know it with my blazer and tights, right? There's a purple skinny belt, too.
Shoes, etc: These Nine West Sizzle Oxford booties are the best and you should get them. I bought the bag from a Tallahassee store, and my earrings are black studs (not smart for the camera).
What do you think of my look? Reverent yet playful, or totes inappropes?
