My Outfit Monday: One piece to the rescue
Today is one of those days where I feel like a zombie, and not in some spunky Michael Jackson music video kind of way, but in the way I suspect an actual zombie would feel after peeling up out of the dirt to come on back from the dead. The weekend was very enjoyable and busy, but Monday started early with an interview far across town. So, I got up when it was still very much dark.
I went straight for a dress.
Dresses have many merits, but one of the best is that they're really convenient for days when you cannot be bothered to find separates that complement each other, or, you know, put on pants. My new favorite dress is this black and red heart print shirt dress from New York & Company. I got it on sale about a month or so ago for around $20. It's super easy and requires almost zero effort on the part of the wearer. It might be meant for Valentine's Day, but I'm comfortable wearing a teeny heart motif any day of the year.
To jazz it up, I threw on this gold necklace that I bought at an antique mall in Dunedin called Knot on Main Street. It was $12, and I had to have it. It reminds me of an 80s night time soap opera in the best way. And it's light and comfortable, despite how hard and heavy it may look.
To finish my look, I went for some bags under the eyes. You know, for a touch of cool tones. Happy Monday! We can do it.
P.S. - Shameless plug. The Times is letting a different staff member take over the paper's Instagram account for a week at a time (brave souls). It's my week! Follow along at @tampabaytimes on Instagram to get behind-the-scenes looks at my assignments this week. I even added in a little My Outfit Monday love.
