My Outfit Monday: Outlet shopping survivor
It's a mirror selfie kind of morning, with my boyfriend out of town and a slate of meetings to run around to all morning. Unfortunately, the dog didn't have opposable thumbs to help out, so we'll have to make do.
I had the sneaking suspicion I showed you this dress before, and it finally clicked. It was in Letitia's goodbye posting, a sad day I want to block out, which is probably why it took me so long to remember.
Anyway, I got this teal and pink wrap dress at the BCBG outlet in Orlando on what was my version of a back-to-school shopping trip, replenishing my wardrobe with a few new items in advance of a busy fall. I had spent the day in Orlando to do some Disney stuff with out-of-town family, and late in the afternoon I broke free and headed off to the Orlando Premium Outlets with my budgeted allowance in hand.
I happen to be one of those strange creatures who finds shopping very relaxing, especially when I'm alone. This was not that kind of experience. The mall was MOBBED, MOBBED, I tell you. There were tour groups from all over the world, people pulling entire rollerboard suitcases around the shopping center. It took me a while to figure out exactly what was happening, but after a while, I realized they were buying tons and tons of merchandise at crazy discounts and shipping them back home as luggage. Man.
It basically felt like the Hunger Games. But I did come away with this dress, eternally comfortable and colorful, and a host of other finds including a mini-Coach bag at a gajillion percent off (check the slideshow for a shot of my outlet haul).
Today, I paired the dress with my favorite nude Adrienne Vittadini heels from the clearance rack at DSW, beloved for their subtle elastic straps that keep my foot tucked in while running all over town. I added some shiny bangles. I got into a Pretty Little Liars marathon on Netflix last night and became seduced with their perfectly curled hair, inspiring me to attempt such a feat this morning. Then I remembered that Hollywood is all lies and those girls were probably wearing professionally-styled extensions. But I gave it a good try.
