My Outfit Monday: Party dress delight
Even the most serious professional working woman among us, on occasion, can benefit from from the fruits of a party dress. A big party dress. A serious party dress that knocks wine glasses off end tables and traps squirrels in the hem. This is just my humble opinion.
I turned 30 recently, and I marked the occasion with the largest, most obnoxious party dress I could find. The checkout lady at JC Penney battled for some time trying to stuff the monster into a dress bag.
It was from Pearl by Georgina Chapman of Marchesa, a fantastic line for JCP. I would have loved one of everything in the collection, but I settled on this fluffy organza number with a pink sash. At $110, it was a bit of a splurge, but happy birthday to me, amirite?
My party theme was "rainbow," so I paired it with sparkly purple Shi pumps (that I promptly toppled right off of while attempting to Dougie) from Journeys, on sale for $20. But perhaps my favorite piece of this Roy G. Biv puzzle was a little rainbow heart necklace from Betsey Johnson I picked up at Dillard's the day before my celebration that pulled everything together just fine.
The final accessory showed up just as the festivities were starting. A lovely friend walked in with a bedazzled black 30 wine glass, proudly ushering me into a new decade. And I grasped it all night with the best of care. After all, I didn't want it to fall prey to the dress.
