My Outfit Monday: Rainy day blues and greens
"Rain, rain, go away. Come again another day," I chanted on Saturday.
Mother Nature apparently listened and responded, though not in the way I had hoped. The dreary weather is slated to stick around for the rest of the week. Every day. All day.
For us Floridian ladies, the wet stuff can present quite the conundrum -- at least when it comes to footwear.
Do I stuff my dogs into a pair of hot boots? Wet open toe sandals are a slip-and-fall accident waiting to happen. Personally, my best closed-toe alternatives are flats made of a suede-y material that risk ruin in the rain.
So, I revolved today's outfit around the next best thing -- my fave pair of deeply-discounted brown heels from Tar-jay!
I know! I wear them in almost each M.O.M. photo but they're just so versatile.
Up top, I'm wearing a navy dress I recently snagged for $11.99 during a shopping splurge at Ross. One of the things that attracted me most is the lace detailing along the front and back shoulders that adds a little something if I have to head out into the heat and take off my cardigan.
And speaking of the flowery sweater, it's a roughly year-old purchase from Target. And it's apparently a popular look -- soon after I bought it, I was sitting in a movie theater when I found myself staring at an 8-foot-tall version of it -- same color and everything -- on an actress in a Tyler Perry movie.
To keep everything dry (including my humidity-induced beginnings of a frizzy fro), I'm keeping my umbrella by my side today.
Thoughts on this outfit? And a question for y'all: What are your go-to outfit items for rainy days?
