My Outfit Monday: Stepping into floral accents
After a heavy, tragedy-filled weekend here in Central Florida, a light, bright outfit called to me from the closet this morning.
Light fabrics are essential for the sort of mid-June heat that surrounds us right now, so I went with two of my summer faves: cotton and linen. The shirt is a sturdy white tank from the Loft Outlet in Ellenton, with a lace V-neck detail. It clocked in at around $10 after the outlet discounts. The skirt, a peachy above-the-knee A-line that has a fun flowery band around bottom, is also from said Loft store. It was $15 on clearance.
The flower detail on the skirt goes will with my favorite part of this outfit: THE SHOES. I've been on the hunt for 1) more sandals, because my entire sandal inventory is mostly from last year's legendary Chico's sale and it has seen better days, and 2) more wedges/sturdy heels, because we are all in this parking garage hike together. After looking at my usual haunts - DSW, more outlet stores, etc. - and quickly becoming depressed at the site of $60 price tags, I hit up an old fave: Payless. I'm happy to report I did indeed PAY LESS, and snatched up a couple of sandals, one chunky black heel, and these floral wedges for less than $20 each.
I'm also showcasing a new-ish purse in the first photo (and a standby jean jacket that saves me when the office is negative 60 degrees) because it is my new best friend and has gotten so many compliments recently it's starting to develop a huge ego. It's like, calm down, PURSE, we KNOW you're hot. On clearance at Kohl's for $17, it rang up for even less ($11) and was then subjected to a 30 percent off coupon. So, basically negative dollars.
