My Outfit Monday: Stripes and Polka Dots
Today's outfit is my attempt to mix patterns, as subtle as they may be. Let's start with the basics: the dress.
Though it's plain, it is one of my favorites. Black, A-line, an exposed zipper up the back and pockets for snacks. And, of course, it's from Target because that's where 75 percent of all my clothing comes from.
Because the dress is sleeveless and we're actually experiencing cooler temps in the morning, I threw on this black and white striped blazer that I picked up a while ago from Marshalls. I had been looking for a blazer like this for a while and I really liked the fact that the white stripes are skinny while the black parts are larger.
Then, comes my favorite part: the shoes. I picked up these polka-dotted beauties a few months ago from DSW. They remind me of Kate Spade and I get a ton of compliments every time I wear them. They're comfortable, too.
And the piece that I think makes this ho-hum outfit fun. The necklace. I purchased this a few weeks ago from an online site called Jane, which dubs itself a "daily boutique."
Warning: this site is addictive. More than a dozen new deals are added every day from small boutiques across the country. The deals only last for a day or two and usually have limited quantities. Plus, every thing is priced really well.
This necklace only cost $4.99 plus $2 shipping.
The only caveat: yes, the necklace feels exactly how you would think a $5 necklace would -- kind of plasticky. But, I've worn it a couple of times now and none of the rhinestones have fallen out and I've gotten compliments on it from others.
So, how did I do?
