My Outfit Monday: Summer chic
I'm gonna give Deal Diva Kameel credit (or, depending on how y'all feel about it, 'blame', haha!) for this one.
Last summer, she blogged about Old Navy's marketing ploy to associate white skinny jeans with happy things like bright colors, affordable prices and all things Boyz II Men (my favorite boy band of my 90s-era youth).
Kameel wasn't quite feeling the white denim look for herself. I, too, was a tad skeptical about trying it out for myself, but I finally bowed to the whims of my musical idols and subliminal messaging and gave it a whirl.
As you can see, I'm now a fan!
From work to date night to casual weekends, the versatility of white skinnies is endless. One of my fave pairings is with teal (top also from Old Navy), which reminds me of all those gorgeous photos you see of Grecian resorts.
But this outfit also requires an additional shoutout: KMart.
We've blogged before about our great finds at financially struggling stores like JCPenney. Maaaaan, I hadn't been to KMart in years and, in fact, mistakenly thought they'd for the most part shut down and that the inventory was lacking.
Nope! A toilet paper shortage emergency recently prompted me to run into one in Clearwater. The sales are ah-mazing! There's nail polish for as low as 50 cents (I'm talking good stuff, like a buttercream Revlon color that I had just months ago searched high and low for until I found it for $8 at Ulta), jewelry on the cheap and discounted purses.
I picked up the cool white/gold Aztec pattern drawstring bag pictured here. Then, I threw on some silver and gold jewelry, plus my trusty merlot Nine West heels to round out this weekend look.
How'd I do?
