Need gift ideas? Check out this site
Fun fact: Summer is a super busy season for birthdays.
Not so fun fact: I'm already out of gift ideas. Completely stumped, behind, desperate.
Fun fact: I found a website that will help!
The Daily Beast came out with a super cool list of the Internet's best websites this week. I bought in from the beginning because the list heaps praise on PolitiFact, the Times' fact-checking site (my day job).
I perused their picks for art, literature and shopping and soon found my new favorite thing: Wantful. The site helps you find sweet gifts for people on your spending terms
First, you fill out a Mad Libs-like form based on the occasion for the gift, the recipient's gender and your relationship with him or her. and your budget. Then the site asks you about the recipient's style, favorite places, dream home and cooking habits. Once you go through the multiple-choice questions (visually stimulating and fun) Wantful generates dozens of gift options that you can track on a gift board.
Among the under-$50 options I got for my laid-back female friend: painted wooden bangles, a poodle- or pug-shaped pillow, a pretty painted ceramic sangria pitcher, lavender body crème with chamomile, donations to various non-profits, and a woven bicycle basket.
Check out the site. I'm hooked. More importantly, I'm not as stressed about summer gift-buying.
